History
The National Contract Management Association (NCMA) was founded in 1959. Nearly 20,000 members strong, NCMA is the world’s leading resource for professionals in the Contract Management field. NCMA certifications are the gold standard of professional excellence in the field. The CPCM™, CFCM™, CCCM™, and CCMA™ are certifications awarded to candidates who meet rigorous standards, including experience, education, training, and knowledge. They are professional certifications of distinction, and carry the respect of their peers in the profession. NCMA membership connects you to an engaged support network for federal, commercial and military contract managers.
The NCMA DC Chapter was chartered in 1964 and is one of the oldest and largest chapters of NCMA. We operate effectively as an organization and are responsible corporate citizens. We are led and operated by volunteer members that have significant autonomy in deciding how best to deliver value to members based on the chapter’s membership and its specific needs and wants. We take charge of planning our long-term and short-term goals, developing leaders, managing finances, implementing programs, measuring performance, and communicating with the NCMA national office.
We endeavor to increase diverse, inclusive, and cross-generational member engagement, professional fellowship, volunteerism, continuing education training and certifications, university scholarships, and leadership development opportunities. The program year (PY) runs from July to June each year. Each month, from September to June, we host dinner meetings and Executive Committee meetings. Other special programs have included a Fellow’s Gala, focused breakfast seminars, webinars, networking, and other team-building events. We gather at different venues in the area to network, learn, and reason together, and to recognize and award outstanding achievements in our member community. Come grow with us!
