Please join us on Wednesday, March 18 at the Public Contracting Institute for a special panel on small business. Our esteemed panelists will cover the recent changes in the small business laws regulations, and practices. The panel will also provide practical tips for navigating the evolving landscape of federal contracting for and by small businesses.

Meet the Panel:

  • Therese R. Meers, Counsel, Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, U.S. Senate. Therese’s career in government focuses in the intersection of entrepreneurship, federal contracting, and the law. Currently, she serves as Counsel for the Senate Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee for Ranking Member Ben Cardin of Maryland. In her role, she advises on small business contracting with the federal government and entrepreneurial development programs. Therese has a demonstrated track record of self-starting accomplishment. She launched and sold Viking Yogurt across the United States and was named an “Entrepreneur to Watch” by Food Navigator Magazine. Therese pursued a liberal arts education. She holds a BA in Art History from Duke University, MLitt in Art History from the University of St. Andrews, and a JD from Harvard Law School.

  • Sam Q. Le, Attorney Advisor, Office of General Counsel, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Sam Le is an attorney advisor for procurement law at SBA. He advises SBA officials on small business government contracting programs, including small business set-asides and size standards. He represents SBA before the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Civilian Board of Contract Appeals, the Office of Hearings and Appeals, the Civilian Agency Acquisition Council, and the FAR Legal Team. Sam started at SBA in 2008 and has also, during his legal career, represented radio and television stations, non-profit organizations, and museums. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Virginia.

  • LaJuanna Russell, President and CEO, Business Management Associates, Inc (BMA). Ms. Russell founded BMA, a business process and human capital management firm, after a decade of experience in the IT consulting industry. As President and CEO, she has grown her Alexandria, VA, company from a $500 investment in 2005 to a flourishing federal, state, and local government contracting firm with more than 70 employees and $8 million in yearly revenue. Today, her smart, dedicated staff members integrate people and process to transform client organizations and meet BMA’s vision to Love thy work, Love thy customer, Love thy system®. Ms. Russell is also Chair of the Board of the boards of Small Business Majority, a national organization that advocates for small business issues at the federal, state, and local government levels.

  • Alan Chvotkin (Moderator), Executive Vice President and Counsel, Professional Services Counsel

  • Conveniently located off Farragut West Metro and walking distance from Farragut North Metro

  • There are two parking garages on either side of PCI (1725 I Street)

    • PCI is on the right-hand side of a one-way street

    • The garage before PCI closes at 8pm

    • The garage just after PCI closes at 10pm

  • Street parking begins at 6:30pm

  • PCI is located on the ground level (to the left of the numbered building)
