NCMA DC Honors Gerald (Gerry) Zaffos with Chapter Appreciation Award
I have been a member of this chapter for a long time, during which there have been a lot of ups and downs, but we have always pulled triumph from tragedy because of the steady hands of a select few of our members.
While profiling Gerry Zaffos on an earlier Fellows Night I commented that Gerry was one of those members “the chapter President calls in the middle of the night”. For more than a decade, Gerry has been answering the phone.
Gerry retired with over 30 years in the business, mostly with GSA after his start with the Army at the Presidio in San Francisco. Previously the Director of Contract Policy for GSA, Gerry retired as Director of the Civilian Agency Acquisition Council. He has been an adjunct Professor at Howard University and has served the Washington Chapter in many capacities including VP, Secretary; OAAA evaluator and Chair of the Scholarship Committee. During graduate work in 2005, Gerry was the winner of the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award and currently serves as Fellows Chair.
Gerry was a principal writer and graphic designer of the 2015 Commemorative History of the Washington Chapter’s 50th Anniversary which paid tribute to the impact of our members on the development of the profession since 1964.
And, under the leadership of our wonderful President, Lou Elias, Gerry and the team are working on a new printed program commemorating the 60th Year of the Chapter which will be available to attendees on Fellows Night next month on June 21st
Ladies and gentlemen, let's honor Gerry Zaffos with this award!
